Delfina Ashley-Baisden, Ph.D., is founder and president of Training for Performance, LLC, a communication training company. This company specializes in the following five areas of communication training and coaching: Oral, Written, Team, Multicultural, and Intergenerational.
Dr. Ashley-Baisden has more than 30 years experience in adult teaching, training, and coaching. In the university setting, she develops curricula, as well as teaches courses in communication, leadership, management, business, and education at select universities in the Denver Metropolitan area and across the country, in online, onsite, and hybrid modalities. In addition, Dr. Ashley-Baisden mentors faculty during their first online teaching experience, as well as serves on dissertation committees of doctoral learners.
From training and coaching standpoints, Dr. Ashley-Baisden conducts communication audits at client organizations in the private sector, and then develops and delivers customized workshops in the areas of communication mentioned above. As an outgrowth of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce and the Denver Chamber of Commerce’s Lunch ‘n Learn Program, Dr. Ashley-Baisden has coached small business owners on a variety of communication techniques, including, “Say it Clearly—Communication Strategies for Financial Success”; “Connect—Making the First 90 Seconds Work to Improve Your Bottom Line”; “Communicating Your Product/Service Value—Strategies to Grow Your Business”; and “Ask the Closing Question! Get the Order—Communication Techniques to Revv Up Your Sales,” to name a few.
In the public sector, Dr. Ashley-Baisden works closely with the Federal government’s Office of Personnel Management in a number of coaching and assessor roles. Dr. Ashley-Baisden draws heavily on various assessment tools during her coaching, such as the 360, FIRO-B, MBTI-II, EQ-I, to name a few. These provide the framework for her to deliver customized coaching to participants. In addition to actively coaching, Dr. Ashley-Baisden also has designed coaching materials to aid participants shape and refine their goals. Coaching sessions have been face to face, over the phone, and via email. The outcome of these coaching sessions has been a solid foundation for participants’ Individual Development Plan, Leadership Development Plan, or their Executive Development Plan.
Dr. Ashley-Baisden’s doctoral preparation in higher education (adult studies) gives her a unique advantage over other trainers, in that she has a deep understanding and appreciation of the ways in which adults learn. This understanding allows her to tailor training to meet the needs of diverse audiences. Dr. Ashley-Baisden is known for her energetic style of teaching and training.
